It’s time to replace my teeth with dentures – who can I trust?

Trust the Dentistry & Implantology Group of Orland Park. We know this is a big step for you to take, and we’ve got the experience and expertise to get you smiling again. We can assess the extent of your need for replacement teeth quickly and accurately, then provide the full or partial dentures that work best for you. With the proper enhancements, your new dentures will improve chewing, speech and digestion.

A denture is a removable dental appliance that you place in your mouth to make up for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. Dentures closely resemble your natural teeth and may even enhance your smile. A partial denture fills in the spaces created by missing teeth while preventing other teeth from shifting. Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing.

What does getting dentures involve?

The process of getting dentures requires 4-5 weekly appointments, including taking molds and measurements, and a series of adjustments for proper shape, color, and fit. We’ll be sensitive to your feelings of soreness and discomfort while recognizing the social awkwardness that can come with having your teeth replaced. We’ll make decisions with you on how slowly or quickly to take each step in the process.  In many cases, dentures can be made in advance and placed immediately after teeth removal.

There is a healing process involved here, too, which can take 6 to 8 weeks, as your muscles and tissues adjust. Once we’re sure your mouth is healed, the reline procedure can be done in a day. Dentures are very durable appliances and will last many years, but may have to be repaired or relined due to normal wear and shrinkage of the underlying tissue. We’ll instruct you in the proper cleaning of your new dental appliance, and recommend good oral hygiene, and regular dental visits to aid in the life of your new dentures.
